Lorquí joins the campaign "Brick solidarity" for victims of Haiti (14/05/2010)

The mayor of Lorquí, Dolores Garcia Villa, has delivered on the morning of Friday May 14, the economic contribution of the City Council a representative of the NGO for Development (NGO) "Fire in Action" to help the earthquake victims in Haiti.

This contribution forms part of the campaign "Bricks Solidarity" promoted by the Housing and Land Institute (IVS) of the Department of Public Works and Planning, in collaboration with "Fire in Action" and "Cajamurcia Foundation."

The event was attended, besides the mayor ilorcitana, director of the Institute of Housing and Lands, Joan Brown, and Mayor Abarán, Antonio Eugenio Gomez, who also presented the contribution of its Consistory.

The funds, to symbolically equate a brick at a price of one euro, will be used to build temporary shelters to provide shelter to 500 to 1,000 people.

Thus, municipalities and Abarán Lorquí have joined the towns of Jumilla and Cartagena as the four first consistory of the Region of Murcia to deliver its financial contribution to the earthquake victims in Haiti.

Next stop, Haiti

Within days, on Sunday 16 May, two members of the NGO "Action Fire," accompanied by several architects of the Ministry of Public Works and Planning of the Region, will travel to the island country to study on field which are the best options with a view to build shelters that would be built.

Also on this trip responsible for Murcia delegation will decide on the final location for the work camp will be launched this summer.
