The office of attention to people affected by the storms last week, launched by the City of Lorquí, to guide, advise and collect incidents, has served more than 300 neighbors since Monday.
The point of information and attention of claims, which remains open from 9 am to 2 pm at the town hall itself, has as its main objective to provide citizens with information on the procedures to follow in the process of requesting damage to insurance, to the Consortium of Insurance and for the aid and subsidies that are established from the different administrations.
The City Council has also made available, for the cleaning of the most affected areas, machinery to remove mud and reduce water and personnel have been hired to assist in the work of flushing and sweeping.
In addition, the municipal services staff and the Civil Protection volunteers of Lorquí and other points in the Region are collaborating in the work.
The effects of the storm in the municipality have caused significant damage to homes, orchards, roads, municipal buildings and infrastructure.
In order to begin the assessment of all these damages, the City Council has called an extraordinary urgent plenary session for next Thursday, September 19, to request the request of the Lorquí declaration as "an area seriously affected by a civil protection emergency" (catastrophic zone) and thus have access to the aid and subsidies that are established.
Likewise, the mayor and part of the Government Team have held several meetings with residents of the municipality to explain the steps to follow in the coming days.
The mayor of Lorquí, Joaquín Hernández, has also appealed to the Regional Executive to request means, as smaller municipalities "are overwhelmed with this situation" and the flooding of lots and houses can now also pose a major public health problem.
