This week the first meeting of this new stage of the Interconcejalías Internal Coordination Body, formed by the Government Team and technicians from different areas of the City Council, took place.
This body consolidates a transversal project to all areas of the session, which also involves the participation of citizens and the social sectors of the municipality.
Thus, all the departments are part of the plan, having to join forces and form working groups to achieve the proposed objectives.
During the meeting, the method of action to be carried out for the renewal of the Child Friendly Cities (CAI) 2020 recognition was revealed. This work involves the evaluation of the Local Plan for Children and Adolescents (PLIA) that We were using, so we must examine the progress, strengths and weaknesses that must be taken into account for the next PLIA.
In this new Local Plan, a new action plan will be considered that will take into account the needs, concerns and ideas of the children and youth of the municipality represented by the Youth and Youth Participation Body.
Lorquí City Council, which has had this distinction since 2016, intends to renew this recognition in the next year.
Thus, Joaquín Hernández, mayor of the municipality said that "it is vitally important to give voice to the children and adolescents of the town making them participate in this program to make their needs visible within their environment."
He also wanted to highlight the fundamental role of city councils to put child and youth rights on the municipal political agenda "by having the youngest participate in their closest surroundings by promoting a more active citizenship," said the mayor.
