Due to the exceptional situation that is taking place with the expansion of COVID-19, the Lorquí City Council has been reporting on the current events in the municipality.

Coordination personnel from the Health Center, Local Police and the Local Civil Protection Association participated in the appearance, who provided information corresponding to their departments where they generally ask for patience and responsibility to face this period of de-escalation, where Lorquí has ??only one positive PCR case. From the health center, it is recommended to continue with hygiene measures, taking extreme precautions when going outside and keeping the minimum safety distance.

They also remember that the operation and care procedure will be maintained as it has been done these weeks, so it is necessary to call by phone or make an appointment electronically in order to be attended.

Thus, the City Council delivered an ozone device that promotes a better duct for cleaning the air, an element that will also be in those spaces where the crowd is abundant. The Deputy Chief Inspector of Local Police of the municipality, Eduardo Rodríguez, reported that in the last fifteen days a total of 60 controls have been carried out with a total of approximately 700 vehicles under surveillance, in addition to controls on public roads, initiating a total of 29 complaints.

Rodríguez also recalled the importance of obtaining information through reliable sources to avoid failures when following the rules and it is essential to maintain the minimum safety distance.

Failure to comply with this distance will be financially sanctioned if it is not done properly. Regarding the Local Civil Protection Association, they highlighted that their delivery service for food and basic necessities.

During this period of confinement they have carried out a total of 797 actions helping the people who have needed it the most, taking the necessary products to their homes to survive, also helping Caritas with its food distribution process. Joaquín Hernández, Mayor of Lorquí, stressed that it is a mistake to relax in this situation where we are in the midst of a de-escalation process, which means that we must be cautious with the actions because the virus has not disappeared.

As a consequence, this year the traditional patron saint festivities in honor of Santiago Apóstol, which took place during the month of July, will not be held, as well as the festivals celebrated in the different districts.

With the money destined to the celebration party it will be redirected to sectors that have been directly affected.

These measures will be carried out through the approval of a plan that will be approved at the next municipal plenary session.

This plan is based on reactivating the economic and social situation to try to alleviate as much as possible the level of the consequences derived from COVID-19,as well as the meteorological disaster that occurred last September.

In this way, this plan aims to modify the budget for this year in order to allocate a greater budget to correct the damages caused, to cover expenses derived from this crisis and in order to avoid giving up the works that were being managed to improve the infrastructure of the municipality, as well as creating new ones. During the conference that is held among all the mayors of the Region together with the president of the Autonomous Community, different topics were discussed where Hernández requested a contingency fund to help the municipalities that are facing extraordinary expenses. He also stressed that a kit of material consisting of gloves and mask will be delivered to all citizens of the municipality who need it.
