The Lorquí City Council will allocate more than 2 million euros to boost the local economy (18/05/2020)

| The celebration, which has € 200,000, will go to help local businesses and small SMEs | The Lorquí City Council has been working for weeks on different proposals that help alleviate the economic and social damages derived from the COVID-19 health crisis, allocating more than 2 million euros in different actions committed to citizens to try to gradually restore normality. In this way, changes have been made to the fiscal calendar that allow the periods to be more flexible, so that they adapt to the reality we live in.

Thus, the collection of fees for kindergartens and school sports, the procedure for traffic fines and the collection of the fee for occupation of public roads with market stalls and tables and chairs for local.

The payment period of the Vehicle Tax, ford and cemetery rate has also been extended until June 30, moving the domiciles of Vehicle Tax to June 15 and those of fords and cemetery to June 25.

In addition, access to the fractionation of the payment of taxes will be facilitated. This situation has caused that the consistory has been forced to suspend the patron saint festivities of the municipality and the districts, for which the budgetary application of celebrations has been destined, which supposes an amount of 200,000 euros, to the direct help of local businesses and proximity, restoration, self-employed and small SMEs.

Along these lines, the cafes and restaurants that have furniture occupying the public thoroughfare, as well as the stalls in the municipal market, will be exempt from paying the public highway occupancy rate until December 31.

As for businesses, they may request the refund of the garbage fee in compensation for the period that they have been forced to be closed.The regulations of the municipal council of commerce and of the hospitality sector of the municipality have also been submitted to prior consultation to regulate all actions carried out in this sector.

In addition, the local government has made payment to all suppliers for a total amount of € 300,000. These actions are part of the Lorquí Economic Reactivation Plan, which also include several investment projects avoiding giving up the works that were being managed to create and improve the municipal infrastructure: Tender for the work of the 'El Saladar II' Industrial Estate with an amount of € 1,600,000. Works and Services Plan (POS) with an amount of € 200.00. The renovation of rural roads is endowed with an investment of € 90,000. Investment for asphalt and headland areas in the municipality, € 391,000. Assembly at CEIP Jesús García of a pergola with an amount of € 89,000. Municipal Library Project, where the Autonomous Community invests a total of € 300,000. In addition, work is being done on the drafting of two very ambitious projects for the regeneration of the Cabezos and the Municipal Sports Facilities.

The construction of a new Health Center is also planned for next year. Along with the investments, this plan contemplates direct aids that concern the consistory's social services department where: From the Government of Spain, an amount of € 53,000 has been received for the direct support of families directly affected by COVID-19, for people in vulnerable situations. From the Lorquí City Council, a minor contract has been signed with different supermarkets in the municipality so that families who cannot afford the costs of purchasing basic food and products could count on this benefit.

A contract has also been signed with Gasolinera BP to facilitate the availability of butane gas.

The process to access these grants will be carried out in the Social Services department, which totals a total of € 13,000. A Social Emergency item has been created to meet basic needs with a total amount of € 20,000. Along with all these actions, the Lorquí City Council also approves an ordinance to mitigate the damage caused by the episodes of intense rains that occurred in the municipality last September with the DANA phenomenon and in December 2016, an action that is endowed with a total of € 100,000.
