| This year also with the incorporation of a new director: Francisco José Ríos-López | The Lorquí School of Music begins a new year, amid the situation generated by the health crisis, guaranteeing the safety of all students after a series of measures have been adopted by the Association of Friends of Music of Lorquí and the City Council .
Thus, a significant investment has been made to assume the mandatory provisions and other additional ones that have been incorporated into those already established by law. In this sense, the School has drawn up a Contingency Plan that includes the protocols to follow to avoid contagion and how to act in the event of a positive notification.
In addition, the schedule has been designed with the redistribution of classes and more hiring to ensure social distance and the least number of students.
For its part, the City Council, in close collaboration with the management of the School of Music, has invested in screens, hygiene stations, disinfectant carpets, gels and cleaners, cleaning material, special screens for the practice of instruments and filters in the air conditioners, among other actions. For this reason, the Department of Culture and the Association itself encourage residents to continue enrolling, as there are still open specialties. The results of the classes, which have already begun, will be evident in the concerts and performances scheduled throughout the year, which will begin on November 29 with an open-air audition on the occasion of Santa Cecilia, provided that the situation epidemiological permit.
In addition, on Saturdays in December there will be concerts in different stages of the town and the traditional Christmas concert in Plaza de la Libertad. But this year the School of Music also has a new director: Francisco José Río Ros, born in Cieza, studied Orchestral Conducting and Composition at the 'Musikene' Conservatory of Music of the Basque Country, in San Sebastián, one of the best schools in the world.
His beginnings as an orchestra conductor are linked to the Cieza Young Orchestra and his works have premiered in Madrid, Malaga, Murcia, Seville and Barcelona, ??among other places.
Also, he won the VI International Composition Competition 'Francisco Escudero' with his work Harkaitza for accordion, clarinet and cello.
