Lorquí City Council wanted to give one of its more illustrious neighbors Pedro Villa Valero, lawyer, doctor and professor in Physics and Chemistry, the title of 'Favorite Son' for his involvement with the municipality and ambassador exercise this town outside our borders.
The homage which he handed the plate with that distinction was held on Saturday April 27 and had the presence of numerous relatives, neighbors Lorquí village, local authorities and members of the Municipal Corporation.
Pedro Villa was born on October 8, 1937 in Street cursas Clock and after his studies in Lorquí traveling with his mother Manduel, France, to join his father, exiled there by the end of the War, which would complete their education in several stages to get a degree in Physics and Chemistry in 1960 at the Faculty of Sciences of Montpellier.
Subsequently, doctoraría in 'State Physics and Chemistry' in 1968 and reach the chair at the University of Picardie Jules Verne one years later, in 1969.
He started his research studying the structure of molecules and their reaction mechanisms, and later pursue new fields such as biodegradable surfactants and the world of liquid crystals.
Among his accomplishments are the training of 47 PhD in organic chemistry and glycochemistry, the direction of 77 dissertations, 188 publications in international scientific journals, 33 patents, 249 communications and 25 conferences in France and abroad.
In addition, his involvement with the people of Lorquí have inspired the creation and consolidation of the Association Path to Humanism and Science, which provides a $ 3,000 scholarship, for young people to study and investigate ilorcitanos about the culture and heritage of our people.
