Public Works upgrade of the road linking the towns of Ceuta and Lorquí (23/11/2008)

The Ministry of Public Works and Planning, through the Directorate General of Highways, has implemented the renovation and improvement of the B-9, which crosses the River Segura, and links the towns of Ceuta and Lorquí.

A company Murcia has been commissioned to undertake the works, which have had a budget of 108,764 euros.

The project meets the request of the municipalities of Lorquí and Ceuta, who reported to the Ministry of Public Works need to improve the road in this stretch, which has been affected by the passage of time and traffic in an area where the intensity Average Daily Traffic (ADT) amounted to 5,100 vehicles.

The works consist of resurfacing regular existing road sections and the repair of the railings of the bridge over the River Segura, who is in poor condition due to oxidation caused by high humidity in the area.

The improvements also include the placement of 100-meter safety barrier and the renewal of road markings and vertical road.

As explained by the general director of Roads, Jose Guijarro, this is a project that reflects the commitment of the Ministry with the various municipalities of the Region to respond rapidly and effectively to the diverse needs of highways " .

Road Maintenance Plan 2008

Guijarro as "this work is part of the Road Maintenance Plan 2008, which allows us to solve the problems arising in the road network in the region, due to daily use of it."

Public Works has a budget for this plan of 14 million euros, thanks to which performances are held in the maintenance, rehabilitation, replacement and improvement of the structural and functional regional roads.
