The traffic lights Lorqui greener (28/11/2008)

Lorquí City Council continues its strong policy in favor of the environment.

In this vein, the Consistory ilorcitano has begun to replace traditional incandescent traffic lights by the municipality for other LED technology, which allows considerable energy savings and a better view of the light from it.

This measure is made possible by a grant from the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDEA), Ministry of Industry, which would make the lenses, while the local council will pay the amount of placing them.

Thus, the change will affect a total of 35 traffic lights in the town ilorcitano through the work placement, the company blamed on "Traffic Murcia, SA" for an amount of 2,338 € '56, have a maximum execution three months.

Features

An LED lamp that incorporates a lot of points of light, so they are more uniformly contrasted and represents a consumption of 5 to 15% compared to traditional traffic lights with incandescent or halogen lamps.

Moreover, its lifetime is 100,000 hours, compared with 8,000 of the lamps used in the current lights.

Higher brightness and luminosity, the color of the disks of these lights are not affected by ultraviolet rays, while providing a high contrast in bright sunlight, allowing better vision at high distances.

This technology allows the disappearance of the dangerous "ghosting" of conventional traffic lights, which makes the lights appear to be on when the sun's rays impinge on them.

It also offers greater resistance to vibration caused by wind and traffic, and greater impact resistance.
